We were drawn to Peru for historical, political, cultural and natural environment. Historical because Spanish conquest of Peru literally changed the course of history as it funded the European industrial revolution. After 500 years, Peru remains resigned to deeply entrenched poverty but yet remains a culturally vibrant (30% natives) nation. The beauty of its natural environment is common knowledge to tourists.
I knew from political studies that you can never be far from a demonstration when you are in Latin America. Well, we got out of LIMA airport and there was a demonstration with lilting music.
LIMA
Traditional weaving demonstration. Such outfits are not.
The waterfall garden in Lima is a transformation to another world. It is a large area with an air of fantasy in the midst of a bustling city.
Colonial splendor
Low res does not do justice to this pic but this is violently windy ocean shore in Lima.
