We started our trip in Oahu, a shopping center for the Japanese. A very urban, hustling-bustling place with tall buildings and cemented construction in the main parts of the city, just like any other city in America. But the world changes dramatically as soon as you step to the outskirts.
The north shore of Oahu offers one of the best views in the world for SkyDiving. No wonder the sky is filled with so many parachutes here. Check out Nitin's mindblowing Skydiving experience here (Add link).
When I saw the tall green standing walls of the mountains, I couldn't help but think of Jurassic Park.
While in Oahu, don't miss the Polynesian Cultural center and the World War II memorial.
Next Stop Kona, the Big Island
There is abundant natural beauty in Hawaii. With bright green flora, deep blue waters and black volcanic rocks, it makes for a perfect spot for stunning pictures and relaxation!
Hawaii is one of the few regions in the modern world where indigenous population is not annihilated and consequently their culture, although diminished, is alive and kicking.
This has been possible partly because those who moved to Hawaii from mainland America (especially in the last couple of decades) did so for love of nature. They were preservationists at heart rather than single minded pursuers of development based happiness. Hawaii’s political history and contentious past with America (as reflected in 19th century coup orchestrated by captains of american industry) is a stark reminder of how the forces that assume unfettered power lead to dictatorial oppressive dispositions. enough of social and political history.
Volcano National Park is on the Big Island. When the volcanic lava takes over the road, there is nowhere further to go!
The huge crater created by the volcano that had errupted here. We took a hike across the default line of the crater. It's a 4 mile round trip loop and easy to do. We just had to avoid a few passively active holes that spewed out the smoke.
It is the Volcanic soil that also makes this place abundantly rich in minerals and hence the natural beauty all around!
Final Stop was Maui
There is a reason why so many couples honeymoon on this island. It is a perfect romantic getaway. It is also famous for it's beaches for those who enjoy extreme surf. The surfs here can be 10 feet high or more sometimes!
This was also a spot to enjoy Para Gliding while taking in views of the neighboring island of Lanai! Check out our experience here (Add link).

Zip-lining offered special views of the waterfall and greenery surrounding us. We were even greeted by some peacocks along the way. Nitin was uncertain if this one was just checking him out or was getting ready for an attack.
I had already landed and so got a chance to record Nitin's landing!
